Cathay Pacific Baggage Policy

1. Carry-On Baggage

Allowance : Passengers are typically allowed one
carry-on bag and one personal item (such as a laptop bag, handbag, or briefcase) in
the cabin.

Weight Limit : The combined weight of your
carry-on bag and personal item should not exceed 7 kg (15 lbs) for Economy Class and
Premium Economy. For Business and First Class, the limit is usually 10 kg (22 lbs).

Dimensions : Carry-on bags should not exceed
the dimensions of 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm (22 in x 14 in x 9 in), including handles
and wheels.

Liquids : Liquids, gels, and aerosols must be
in containers of 100 ml (3.4 oz) or less and placed in a transparent, resealable
plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 liter (1 quart). Each passenger is allowed
one bag.

2. Checked Baggage

Allowance :

The checked baggage allowance varies based on your ticket class, frequent flyer
status, and route. Here’s a general guideline:

Dimensions : Each checked bag should not exceed
158 cm (62 in) in total dimensions (length + width + height).

3. Excess Baggage

Fees :Fees apply for excess baggage beyond the allowed weight or number of bags. Charges are based on the weight and size of the additional baggage and the specific route.

Pre-Purchase : It may be cheaper to pre-purchase excess baggage allowance online rather than paying for it at the airport.

4. Special Items and Sports Equipment

Special Items :Items such as musical instruments, medical equipment, and fragile items can often be transported but may require advance notice or special arrangements.

Sports Equipment : Cathay Pacific allows the carriage of sports equipment, such as golf clubs and skis, usually subject to a fee and specific handling requirements.

5. Damaged or Lost Baggage

Reporting :Report any damaged or lost baggage to Cathay Pacific’s ground staff at the airport immediately upon arrival. They will provide you with a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) to track and resolve the issue.

Compensation :Compensation for lost or damaged baggage is subject to international regulations and Cathay Pacific’s policies. Ensure you keep all receipts and records related to your baggage for potential claims.

6. Infant and Child Baggage Allowance

Infants :Infants traveling with an adult typically have a baggage allowance of 1 piece up to 10 kg (22 lbs), plus a collapsible stroller or pram.

Children : Children with their own seats have the same baggage allowance as adults.

7. Frequent Flyer Benefits

Marco Polo Club Members :Frequent flyers may receive additional baggage allowances based on their membership tier and loyalty status.
